GoDaddy’s headline prices are first-year prices, and the features a local business needs are spread across its tiers. Business Lane has two plans, one price each, and the same price every year.

GoDaddy currently sells two website builders. The one on its main page is Airo AI Builder: Starter is $9.99 a month and Professional $24.99, billed yearly — and GoDaddy says the yearly plans carry an extra discount on the first year, without publishing what they renew at. Billed monthly, the same plans are $19.99 and $49.99. The older Websites + Marketing builder is still on sale, with its own tiers and the same introductory-pricing terms.

GoDaddy’s builder page lists appointment bookings, online payments and a product catalogue on Airo’s Professional tier. Business Lane’s Website plan, at $20 a month, takes appointment requests, and the Business plan, at $25, adds the online shop, invoices and stock control — with no first-year discount to run out.

The way you build differs as well. Airo builds your site in a conversation with its AI — GoDaddy’s own words are “no drag-and-drop editor to figure out” — and lets you view and export the code. Business Lane asks for your services, hours and photos, drafts the wording for you to approve, and lays it out in one of five designs made for local businesses.

  • You need your own .com today — Business Lane sites live at your-name.business-lane.com for now.
  • You run several sites: Airo Professional covers ten.

Business Lane is the better pick if…

  • You want a price you can plan around: $20 or $25 a month, with no first-year discount that runs out.
  • You want bookings, a shop, invoices and stock on one plan, rather than spread across tiers and two different builders.
  • You want to publish during the trial — 14 days of every feature, live, with no card.
  • You sell outside the US: cash on delivery and bank transfer work anywhere, and card works through Stripe in over 40 countries.

Moving from GoDaddy in an afternoon

  1. Start the trial and claim your address

    Sign up with your business name and your site gets its address at your-name.business-lane.com. Keep your GoDaddy site running while you build.

  2. Bring your services, prices and hours

    Copy the text from your current pages, or let the AI draft it from your trade and edit what it writes. Nothing is published until you approve it.

  3. Upload your photos

    Your best images go in the gallery, including before-and-after pairs on a slider. The Website plan holds 50.

  4. Forward your domain

    If your domain is registered with GoDaddy, it stays yours — only the website plan changes. Until Business Lane can connect a domain directly, you can forward it to your new address from your domain settings.

  5. Point people at the new site, then cancel

    Update the link on your Google Business Profile and social accounts, print the QR poster, and cancel the website plan once requests and orders are arriving.

Questions about switching from GoDaddy

Why does GoDaddy’s website builder cost more after the first year?

GoDaddy’s yearly Airo plans carry “an extra discount on your first year”, and its Websites + Marketing terms say introductory pricing covers the first term only. GoDaddy does not publish the renewal prices (checked September 2026). Business Lane has no introductory price: $20 or $25 a month, or about 17% less paid yearly, every year.

Is Business Lane cheaper than GoDaddy?

In the first year, GoDaddy’s Airo Starter is cheaper at $9.99 a month billed yearly — but GoDaddy’s builder page lists bookings and a product catalogue on Professional, at $24.99 a month billed yearly for the first year or $49.99 monthly. Business Lane’s Business plan, with bookings, a shop, invoices and stock, is $25 a month.

Can I keep my GoDaddy domain?

Yes. The domain is registered separately from the website builder and stays yours. Business Lane cannot connect it directly yet, so for now you forward it to your your-name.business-lane.com address from GoDaddy’s domain settings.

Can customers pay cash or by bank transfer?

On Business Lane, yes, in any country: cash on delivery or collection, bank transfer, or card through your own Stripe account. GoDaddy’s Websites + Marketing supports cash, check or bank transfer; its help pages do not document offline payments for Airo.

Do I need to know anything technical?

No. You fill in your business details, approve the wording the AI drafts, and pick a design. Hosting, SSL and search setup are included, and there is no code to see or export.
